The exhibition "The Poetics of Gesture", by master Iván Tovar, internationally listed as one of the most sought-after and important Dominican painters, was inaugurated at the Lucy García gallery, under the auspices of the Banco de Reservas. 

20 drawings and two paintings by the Dominican artist make up the exhibition, which was opened by the United States Ambassador, Robin S. Bernstein, art critics, painters and visual arts students, collectors, painters, curators, and teachers and students of visual arts . It will be open until Saturday, May 4. 

The ambassador declared that she attended because she knows the trajectory of maestro Tovar and identies with his stylistic and chromatic pattern, of which she said breaks schemes and authentically represents the visual artistic talent of the Dominicans 

Bernstein said that he attended the exhibition because he has followed the career of the Dominican artist, whom he admires because he is characterized by breaking schemes and being a perfectionist in creating his own universe of images.

Tovar's work is characterized by differentiating itself in the world of sub-realism as a fundamental current of international art, to which it contributes a color from the Caribbean and a precise line, which generates a balance of forms that a graceful, harmonious and effective link with the viewer of the work. 

The surprising and impressive exhibition of Tovar in Santo Domingo, is considered one of the great events of plastic arts in 2019, so it is recommended for study purposes to those who study Visual Arts, teachers, the public who love Dominican plastic art. top-tier critics and art curators. 

The opening of the exhibition of the 22 works was headed by Daniela Tovar, daughter of the artist, and the cultural manager and agent of Tovar Yury Ruiz, together with Lucy García, director of the gallery that hosts the drawings, at the Plaza Mezzalina store. from Federico Geraldino Avenue, from Ensanche Piantini. 

Lucy García, owner of the gallery and installer of the exhibition, stressed that it is a unique opportunity to enjoy, above all, the unique line of teacher Tovar's drawing and exhorted the teachers and students of art schools, as well as to the public that loves the visual arts, to know these works.

In February of this year, during the International Tourism Fair (Fitur 2019), in Madrid, Banreservas sponsored in the David Berdia Gallery, the exhibition "The Surreal Universe of Iván Tovar", 15 paintings by the painter of large and medium formats, causing an outstanding impression in the specialized Madrilenian press and the cultists and admirers of the plastic of great international value.

Iván Tovar, resident in Spain, is the 2018 National Prize for Visual Arts of the Dominican Republic.

The art critic and presenter of the exhibition, Marianne de Tolentino, explained that Tovar, established in Spain, has created a surreal imaginary that, unlike other exhibitors of that trend, in him is pleasant, accessible and assimilable by people.
